“There have been strange things”

It is a defeat that the mother of Lola Turpin digests very poorly. The day after the Miss France 2024 ceremony, the mother of Miss Aquitaine 2023 does not accept the elimination of his daughter in the first round. Questioned by Sud-Ouest this Sunday, December 17, 2023, the mother goes very far in her accusations, and protests against the Miss France delegation, to which she criticizes several “strange things” which, according to her, favored certain candidates to the detriment of others. Virginie Leglaive does not understand that Miss Alsace, who won the general knowledge competition, and her daughter, who won the eloquence competition and the camaraderie competition, were not selected among the 15 contenders for the title by the jury: “I am incomprehensible” plague the mother of the family.

The 15 qualified for the second round were chosen on Wednesday December 13, 2023, before a jury different from that of the final. The 15 selected did not know if they were still there or not at the time of the show this Saturday, December 16, 2023, but Lola Turpin was convinced that she had seduced them: “Lola told me that it went well. We weren’t necessarily dreaming of the crown, but at least of a top 15” regrets the one who indicates that she would have liked her daughter has time to “express yourself on set”as the 15 other qualifiers were able to do.

She also competed for the title of Miss France in 2002.

Very moved according to her mother’s words, Lola Turpin is currently having difficulty digesting her defeat: “She was a little, a lot moved, obviously”. And to qualify his attacks that the production and the delegation will surely not appreciate: “We must not regret. They put on an exceptional show last night. We must give it time to digest”. In 2002, Virginie Leglaive participated in Miss France 2002, but did not manage to climb into the top 12. A scenario which repeats itself twenty years later for her daughter. This year, the crown had gone to Sylvie Tellierwho left her mark on the history of Miss France.

The Miss Aquitaine have not been finalists for 28 years

Miss Aquitaine has not been popular in the Miss France competition for almost thirty years. Six Miss Aquitaine were elected Miss France, including the very first recipient of the title, Agnès Souret. In 1952, Josiane Pouy was the second Miss Aquitaine to receive the title of Miss France, followed in 1983 by Frédérique Leroy, in 1989 by Peggy Zlotkowski (whose uneasiness at the time of his coronation remains in the memories of all viewers), in 1990 by Gaëlle Voiry, and finally, in 1995, by Mélody Vilbert. For 28 years, Miss Aquitaine has struggled to convince the public. In 2021, Ambre Andrieu was elected 5th runner-up, just like Cassandra Jullia in 2018, and Gennifer Demey in 2016, who has since become a weather presenter on M6 (and who participated in the last season of Traitors).
