Negotiations under high pressure. While talks are underway between the executive and the Republicans to try to reach a compromise in a joint joint committee on the text of the immigration law carried by the government of Elisabeth Borne, Monday December 15, the minister delegate in charge Relations with Parliament Franck Riester indicated that negotiations are still ongoing.

“We work a lot, we exchange a lot [….] on the basis of the Senate text, but not on this entire text because there are a certain number of subjects on which we are discussing and which do not suit us, which do not correspond to our philosophy“, he indicated on franceinfo this Friday, before specifying that he had “the desire to have an agreement“.

There cannot be an agreement at any cost, at any price“, says Franck Riester. “The Prime Minister wants the unity of the majority. It’s difficult but it’s a priority.”

If we all have red lines and we each stay on our own and don’t take steps towards each other, there is no agreement“, he concluded.
