France is currently on attack alert and at least 600,000 spectators are expected on the banks of the Seine on July 26, according to the organization of the Games. Enough to arouse the fear of several political leaders including Eric Ciotti, president of the Les Républicains party, who had recently suggested giving up organizing this ceremony on the river.

“We are preparing this meeting with a lot of professionalism. Everything is done to ensure that it is ready, in terms of security and organization. As we are professionals, there are obviously plans B, C, etc. There are a difference between getting organized and immediately being catastrophic, telling yourself that you are repatriating (at the Stade de France). No: we organize ourselves”, insisted the head of state.

A plan B could be put in place “if we consider that there is a level of risks and insecurity likely to revise the initial plan”and in case of “rising international or regional tensions”or “series of attacks” as in November 2015, explained the President of the Republic.
