The consultation with a general practitioner could increase to 30 euros, after a government agreement. Why this increase? Spotlight with Agnès Giannotti, president of the MG France union, guest of 19/20 info.

Is the increase in the price of a consultation with a general practitioner to 30 euros satisfactory? “The 30 euros correspond to the demand we had to counterbalance inflation. There are blocking points in this agreement which concern specialists“, explains Agnès Giannotti, president of the MG France union, guest of 19/20 info. She specifies that “one line says that if the agreement passes, they could quote while sending patients to each other. The specialist consultation costs 60 euros and ours is 30.“A measure which, according to her, would keep young people away from the profession, whereas”we lose 500 GPs every year.

Asked about the fear of generating a two-tier medicine which could exclude the most precarious patients, Agnès Giannotti indicates that “MG France is particularly sensitive to access to care. Among general practitioners, 95% of the profession is in approved sector 1. We absolutely want patients to have access to care, hence a battle for reimbursement to be correct and for increases in sector 1.
