“There are agreements on almost everything,” says Gérald Darmanin before the resumption of the CMP

The joint committee, responsible for finding a compromise to adopt the law on immigration, suspended its work during the night of Monday December 18 to Tuesday December 19. “The deputies and senators are working. “There are obviously agreements on almost everything”, assured the Minister of the Interior and Overseas Territories. However, there remains a “important point” to be debated, which is “the way we manage social benefits”, said Gérald Darmanin. The Republicans particularly want to tighten the conditions for granting APL (personalized housing assistance). The minister also recalled that he was “very unfavorable” to the use of 49.3 to forcefully pass the immigration law.
