It was established by the authorities that it was a tragic accident and that no criminal element was found in the case. A coroner’s inquest will be conducted to understand the causes and circumstances and to make recommendations if necessary.

It was around 7 p.m. on Tuesday that emergency services were called to the Walter-Buswell complex. On site, they discovered a young 11-year-old hockey player unconscious on the ground. He had just received a puck in the throat. The throw, completely accidental, was made by a teammate.

The young person was rushed to hospital, where staff managed to restore a pulse thanks to resuscitation maneuvers. But his condition subsequently deteriorated – he had been kept on life support since late Tuesday. He finally succumbed to his injuries within the last few hours.
