2022 a dark year on the roads of Côte-d’Or. We are only in the middle of the year and we are already counting 18 dead on the roads of the department. This is 6 more than for the same period in 2021. 2022 is one of the deadliest in the last 10 years is alarmed the prefecture of Côte-d’Or.
The victims are 4 women and 14 men: 16, 18, 30, 31, 34, 43, 44, 52, 55, 60, 66, 67, 69, 70, 75 and 90 years old.
A greater risk of accidents during the summer
“Faced with this dramatic observation, with these bereaved families as with these grieving friends, the prefect calls on users to be aware and invites them to exercise the greatest caution for this summer. Indeed and contrary to popular belief, it is when the weather is nice that accidents are most numerous, because vigilance is relaxed more than when the weather conditions deteriorate (rain, fog, ice, light, etc.)” underlines the prefecture in a press release.
Increased surveillance, take it easy!
“Let’s remember the year 2021: of the 29 people who had lost their lives on the roads of Côte-d’Or, 14 had lost it between the months of June and August. All concerned, all responsible: these 18 accidents involved 2 heavy goods vehicles, 1 agricultural machine, 16 cars, 3 commercial vehicles, 2 motorcycles, 1 moped, 1 bicycle. This is why, from July 15 and throughout the summer, the prefecture will carry out a campaign of sensitizing users to road risk via its social networks, to raise this awareness and remind us that behind behaviors that may seem trivial to us unfortunately hide so many broken lives that could have been spared.
