The matches follow one another and are not the same for the players of the XV of France. Sparkling a week earlier against New Zealand, this time they suffered, Saturday October 28, beaten by Australia (20-29) in Dunedin, New Zealand, on the 2nd day of the WXV, the new international women’s rugby competition. Gaëlle Mignot’s protégés were dominated by the vengeful Wallaroos, after being swept away on the first day by England (42-7).

The Tricolores were however still in the game at half-time, with only two points behind (10-12), despite two tries conceded, including one in the third minute by Eva Karpani. The start of the festival for the right pillar, author of a powerful hat-trick, to conclude the Australian domination. Trailing 29-10, the Blues had the merit of never lowering their heads, buoyed by the entries of Pauline Bourdon-Sansus and Gabrielle Vernier. The latter, after the siren, then Elisa Riffonneau (75th) saved the honor.

Too little, and above all too late to reverse a meeting that seemed like a warning for the Blues. They will have to do much better offensively in keeping the ball in the opposing 22 meters, where they have mismanaged too many situations. Proof also of the density at the high level of international women’s rugby before facing Canada next Saturday, November 4 (4:00 a.m. French time).
