All they have to do now is finish the job. Against Scotland, Saturday March 16 at 5:45 p.m. (on France 2 and france.tv), Ireland will try to retain its title in the Six Nations Tournament. Even if they abandoned their Grand Slam dreams in London (22-23) last Saturday, Jamison Gibson-Park’s teammates can be the first to achieve a double since England, in 2016 and 2017. The data is simple for Ireland: a victory, a draw or a double bonus (offensive and defensive) is enough.

In fact, the Irish even seem “protected” from a possible defeat by their very clearly favorable difference in points (+80 against -3 for England, the closest competitor). If they only take a bonus point, at the same time the English would have to sign a major success in France, a few hours later (9 p.m.) to make up for their delay. On the other hand, a “dry” defeat (therefore without bonus) combined with an improved victory for the English would offer the Tournament to England, under the nose of Ireland.

And Scotland in all this? Even if she can still mathematically believe in it, she must first win by a large margin (+4 points difference), with bonus and without leaving any bonus to the Irish… while hoping that neither England nor France does not sign improved success.
