the writer Pierre Pouchairet at the Nuit du Polar de Châteauroux

He is a well-known figure with us: the Berrichon Pierre Pouchairet, former commander of the national police, and now author of a novel makes a stop in Châteauroux this weekend. It will be on Saturday October 15 at the Nuit Polar Festival organized by La Bouinotte. And he was on France Bleu Berry this Friday morning.

The Green Gold of the Sangha, his new novel

He will notably present his new novel, _L’Or vert du Sang_ha. The synopsis: a journalist commissioned by her editor to go and cover the elections in an imaginary African country, where an assassination will lead the heroine on the trail of a timber trade. A novel that therefore takes place mainly in Africa, as others take place in the Middle East, on the Côte d’Azur or even Brittany… but never in Berry, or almost. “My characters often pass through Berry: ‘Larmes de fond’ ends at the Châteauroux police station; in another, there is an attack on the market in Aigurande”. But the author is not not at all against the idea of making a 100% Berry character.

A novel adapted by Olivier Marchal

The Berrichon author will also receive an additional mark of recognition: his novel Deadly Trafficswho received the Quai des orfèvres prize in 2017, will soon to be on the screens, adapted by Olivier Marchal, under the title Overdose. “It’s magic for an author” admits Pierre Pouchairet, who was able to attend a few weeks of filming. “It’s what was funny and a bit magical, it’s that I know Olivier Marchal well: we started together at the judicial police of Versailles in the early 80s. We find ourselves, him, as a filmmaker and I as an author “. The film will be visible on the Amazon Prime platform at the beginning of November.

As for what’s next, Pierre Pouchairet has two book projects on fire : “one which will take place in the middle of green algae (which will be released soon (…) and another which will perhaps be released in 2024, on drug trafficking in Jordan”.

While waiting to be able to devour these two new novels, you can meet Pierre Pouchairet this Saturday, October 15, to Polar Night Festival of Châteauroux,
