At the Palais des Congrès in Bordeaux (Gironde), Friday February 9 in the afternoon, the students of the magistrature school observed a long minute of silence during their swearing-in. Present, the President of the Republic then paid tribute to the former Minister of Justice, who died during the night from Thursday to Friday. Emmanuel Macron said: “The Nation has lost a great man.”

Robert Badinter will have had a lasting impact on several generations of lawyers. “All the law students, and all the lawyers that we are, we also have this desire to have a little Badinter side, and to have this eloquence, this humanity and this faith in the man that we keep after all throughout the profession”, indicates Maître Émilie Limoux, criminal lawyer. A law professor, he also left lasting memories with his former students. A collection of condolences is open until Sunday at the Ministry of Justice.
