In Lingala, one of the four official languages of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Biso means ”We”. Here, it must be taken as the whole that we all form on the planet. Attached to Muziki, it is an entire universe that we invite you to discover. For Chacha Angela who is at the origin of Biso Muziki, it could not be otherwise. This irrepressible desire to make music with and for others is the engine of his life. This drummer, who made his scales from the age of 5 on percussion, in Kinshasa, followed in the footsteps of his mother and his sister, the singers of the family and of his brother, also a drummer, whom he accompanied on the bell or cowbell, essential in Latin rhythms. He also plays the balafon, a traditional instrument made from wooden slats and calabashes. Then, Chacha Angela, developed her own music by drawing on her Congolese roots, before dressing them in Jazz, Pop, Funk, Gospel, or Rock. All that remained was to sing them.
Chacha sings in Lingala, his native language, in French or in English, crossbreeding requires and if it’s not him, it’s Gumiso. After years of composing and writing, Chacha and his first band land in Germany for the “Moers Festival” which takes place every year in North Rhine-Westphalia. It was during this International Jazz Festival that the decision was made to come and play in France and everything was to change. Chacha tells us about the meetings, and the beginnings of a project for which he had no trouble convincing Nils, Stéphane, Antoine and Gumiso to join him in Biso Muziki. A single idea animates them: the interbreeding between the music of Africa and that of the West. In fact, it’s the ideal cocktail, with little Congolese rumba, a hint of Jazz, two bars of Afro-beat, all sweetened with intoxicating tongues as much as possible. To enjoy it, just let yourself be carried away by the power of the shaker and listen to the Happy Hour Live…
