A Milan court on Wednesday acquitted Silvio Berlusconi, former head of the Italian government, accused of having bribed witnesses to lie about his sulphurous “bunga-bunga” evenings. The acquittal is the culmination of a long legal history that began in 2010 when Mr Berlusconi was accused of abusing power by protecting a young Moroccan dancer, Karima El-Mahroug (pictured), known by her name by artist Ruby.
