Relatives of the victims of the La Cantuta massacre, which occurred in 1992, are gathered at the monument “Ojo que llora” (the crying eye), to mark the 30th anniversary of the sad event. On July 18, 1992, a university professor and nine students, presumed members of the Shining Path – the Communist Party of Peru – were kidnapped and then killed by a military death squad.
