In March 2024, a woman discovered bones during a walk in Haut-Vernet, turning the investigation around the disappearance of little Émile. Testimony.

Sadia agreed to return, Friday September 27, to a trail in Vernet (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), where she often hikes, to tell about the discovery she made last March. “I see the little ball, the skull, all white. And it’s centered, right in the middle. I said to myself: ‘Oh, it’s little Émile‘”, she says. The skull is the first bone of Émile, a two and a half year old child who has been missing since July 8, 2023.

The 62-year-old hiker decides to take the skull with her, to take it to the police station. “I act because that day, there was a very, very, very strong wind (…) and I said to myself, take it, otherwise no one will find it.”she said. She explains that she then decides “to take a small bag” to wrap the skull, taking care not to put his fingerprints on it.

The next day, the police’s analyzes confirmed that the piece of skull was indeed that of the missing child. Other bones and the child’s clothing were later discovered. A report was submitted to the investigating judge at the Aix-en-Provence criminal center (Bouches-du-Rhône), for the moment confidential.
