The window of a restaurant riddled with bullets in Montreal

More than fifteen people who were inside a restaurant in the Saint-Laurent borough, in Montreal, had quite a scare when the store window was riddled with bullets.

The event targeting this business occurred around 3:45 a.m. Sunday morning on Deslauriers Street, near Benjamin-Hudon Street. The police were alerted by several calls to 911.

“According to initial information, a suspect fired shots in the window of the restaurant before fleeing in a vehicle before the arrival of the police,” said agent Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).

Customers and employees inside were not injured, she said. They were met by the investigators who collected their testimonies.

Several impacts of firearm projectiles were observable on the shop window and shell casings were found on the ground.

“The scene has been protected for investigators and forensic identification technicians so that they can analyze the scene and try to understand the exact circumstances of this event. The images from the surveillance cameras located in the nearby buildings will be checked by the police,” said agent Chèvrefils.
