The Wild beat the Canadian 4-3 in overtime

The Canadian lost the special teams battle and eventually the game on Thursday night at the Xcel Energy Center.

Kirill Kaprizov scored with 4.9 seconds left in overtime in addition to collecting two assists and the Minnesota Wild defeated the Montreal hockey club 4-3.

The Russian hit the mark with a good one-timer after a crossfield pass from Marcus Johansson.

The Canadian lost 5-2 against the Wild at the Bell Center on October 17. The Wild then scored three goals on the power play, and two on the penalty kill.

This time, the Wild finished the evening with two power play goals in six chances, while the Habs were 1-for-5.

The Canadian thus wasted an opportunity to win a third game in a row for the first time this season.

He suffered a 10th straight loss in Minnesota, where he has not won since March 20, 2011.

Three-way match

The first period was the affair of the Wild, who had a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal.

However, it took him 13:19 of play before he managed to open the scoring. Boldy then took advantage of a cross-ice pass from Kaprizov to hit the target on the power play.

The Wild came back 1:35 later. Zach Bogosian connected with Rossi with another great crossfield pass. The Austrian took the opportunity to score his 11th goal of the season.

The Canadian head coach, Martin St-Louis, quickly requested a review of the goal. However, officials ruled that there was no offside when entering the zone.

The tide completely turned in the second period. This time, the Canadian had a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Savard cut the lead to 2-1 after 6:17. Cole Caufield recovered his own putback, then rounded the net. He sent the puck back to the slot and Savard grabbed the pass before beating Gustavsson.

Shortly after Joel Eriksson Ek missed an open net during a Wild power play, Kaiden Guhle shouldered Kaprizov hard. Rossi came to his teammate’s defense, but was ultimately punished for instigating the fight.

Bogosian attacked Brendan Gallagher a little later and received a double minor penalty for roughness. On the other hand, Mike Matheson was punished for interference just 25 seconds later, essentially erasing one of the two penalties awarded to Bogosian.

Marcus Foligno was punished for a dangerous hit against Justin Barron late in the second period, but it was after the intermission that the Canadian took the opportunity to tie the game.

Suzuki made it 2-2 at 1:09 of the final period. Slafkovsky’s shot grazed defenseman Jacob Middleton’s stick and Gustavsson failed to control the puck. Suzuki only had to push the comeback into the opening.

The Wild took the lead again at 8:57, seven seconds after Joel Armia was punished for holding. Faber’s long shot surprised Montembeault, who had blurred vision.

The Canadian needed a little luck to tie the game again with 3:03 remaining. Slafkovsky deflected a long shot from Savard, then the puck deflected against Middleton before ending up in the goal.
