The wife of Patrice Charlemagne was placed in police custody on Wednesday September 20, communicated the prosecution, confirming information from the Parisian. This university professor was killed in his house in Rosendaël, near Dunkirk (North), during the night from Sunday to Monday. An investigation into intentional homicide was opened on Monday, entrusted to the judicial police, following the death of this man born in 1971, teaching at the University of Littoral Côte d’Opale.

Prosecutor Charlotte Huet explained that the victim’s wife and child were present at the home on the night of the incident, but that “what they had witnessed, and where, needed to be clarified”. “After examining the testimonies, statements, technical and scientific findings, the Dunkirk public prosecutor’s office decided today to place the victim’s wife in police custody”writes the prosecutor in a press release.

“The purpose of this measure is to compare his version of the facts with the elements collected in the investigation,” she adds. According to information from France 3 Hauts-de-France, the victim’s partner alerted the police around 4 a.m., explaining that a burglary was in progress at their home. The victim was found in a bedroom on the first floor, suffering from several stab wounds. Two bloody knives, a pair of gloves, a flashlight and a laptop were seized near the home, according to a source close to the investigation.
