The White Lotus | K-pop star Lisa will be in season 3 filmed in Thailand

(Bangkok) Lisa, the singer of the K-pop group Blackpink, will join the cast of The White Lotuswhose season 3 will take place in Thailand, its country of origin, HBO announced Tuesday.


Filming for the new season of the hit American series is expected to begin this month in Bangkok as well as on the tourist islands of Phuket and Ko Samui.

Lisa, whose full name is Lalisa Manobal, will star in the series alongside Hollywood star Scott Glenn, announced Max, HBO’s streaming service, in a message posted on its X account.

The 26-year-old young woman is undoubtedly the best-known Thai personality in the kingdom and around the world, with her more than 100 million followers on Instagram, her mega-concerts and her advertising campaigns for several luxury brands of which she is the muse.

The White Lotus, a scathing satire on the hypocrisy of the rich, achieved great popular and critical success. She was notably rewarded in January with the Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Jennifer Coolidge.

The second season, set in Sicily, is said to have caused a spike in searches for trips to the southern Italian island, a phenomenon Thai tourism officials hope to replicate.

Earlier this month, HBO announced that it had canceled the appearance of a Serbian actor in its hit series after Ukraine accused Milos Bikovic of supporting the war started by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
