Emergency vehicles flocked to the area around the White House Monday morning following an anonymous call falsely reporting a fire.
According to several media, including CNN and the Daily Mailan individual told 911 dispatchers that the building was on fire and someone was trapped inside in what appeared to be a case of swattingthis phenomenon where false incidents are reported to the authorities with the sole aim of creating a deployment of police or firefighters.
President Joe Biden was at his Camp David residence when the call was answered, around 7 a.m.
His inner circle quickly determined that it was a hoax, no doubt believing that the White House is the latest target in the dangerous trend sweeping the country.
The call was traced to a false number, a source told CNN.
