Elizabeth II will have known many weddings and funerals, especially within the royal family. One of the most significant episodes will remain that of the failed marriage between Prince Charles and Lady Diana.

Elizabeth’s life was punctuated by weddings as well as funerals. On November 20, 1947, she married Philip, a naval officer and distant cousin. The marriage was sumptuous, after the years of war. Together they will have four children. On July 29, 1981, the eldest, Charles, married Diana, in front of 750 million viewers. The princess was knighted by the British. In reality, this quasi-arranged marriage has turned to the fiasco. Fifteen years after their union, the queen herself would have asked them to divorce in order to preserve the image of the monarchy.

The death of Lady Di in 1997 shook the country. While the people mourn the princess of hearts, the queen is silent. She then becomes unpopular for the first and last time in her reign. She will pay tribute to him a few days later. In 2011, the monarchy regained splendor with the marriage of William and Kate Middleton. Harry marries Meghan Markle, a divorced American wife. Relationships are complicated. Two years after the wedding, the couple withdraws from the British family and leaves for the United States. On April 17, 2021, the queen lost her husband. The album closes, after 96 years of a life in the service of the British.
