the weariness of soldiers’ wives

Demobilization, the return of soldiers home, is what these Ukrainian women are demanding, whose lives were turned upside down at the same time as that of their husbands, who left as volunteers to the front from the first days of the war. On the signs, we can read messages from children: “I want to see my father again“. But also strong words like “prisoners“, “hostages” or “army slaves“.

A rotation system

When they signed two years ago, their spouses did not think it was a permanent contract. More and more of them are leading this rebellion, in particular to help the morale of their husbands which is deteriorating day by day. There is no question of demanding the surrender of Ukraine but they are campaigning for a system of rotation of soldiers. Today, Ukraine glorifies its fallen soldiers but no one is rushing to join the army anymore.
