Global warming: the water cycle is disrupted
Global warming: the water cycle is disrupted
(france 2)

According to the UN, the floods and droughts experienced this year are only a foretaste of what awaits us with global warming. To talk about it, Victor Frédéric, journalist for France 2, was present on the 8 p.m. set this Monday, October 7.

Why does global warming promote drought and floods? It’s linked to the water cycle. It starts with evaporation from the oceans, which forms water-laden clouds. The precipitation then runs off into watercourses to return more or less quickly to the sea. “With global warming, this phenomenon is intensifying”details Victor Frédéric, journalist in the environment department of France 2.

We can already observe the dramatic consequences of this disruption of the water cycle: one of the main tributaries of the Amazon is at a historically low level. It is now almost dry in places. In France, in the Pyrenees, a river disappeared in two years. Last winter, homes found themselves underwater on multiple occasions.
