This is the first time that the candidate from the Atlantic region has won the prize in this competition where five works from as many regions of Canada (Aboriginal territories, Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, Western Canada) compete.

Each novel is defended by a fighter from the region where the book originated. In the case of The warned: The birth of a dynastythe novel was defended by Serge Brideau, singer of the group Les Hôtesse d’Hilaire.

the warned tells the saga of an Acadian family, the Roussels, over several generations. They are witnesses to the great upheavals of history since 1870 and a symbol of Acadian victory and success.

Originally from Tracadie, Vanessa Léger has already published the first two volumes of her trilogy. The third volume is expected this summer.
