The war in Ukraine told by children from kyiv, the winter drought in France and advice for doing homework: news from a child’s perspective

Children talk about a year of war in Ukraine, the drought in France in the middle of winter and advice for doing homework: this is the program of “Salut l’info!” this week.

Every week, the podcast “Salut l’info!” offers a tour of the news for children aged 7 to 11, a program from franceinfo radio and Astrapi magazine.

In this new episode, the presenter Estelle first explains to the children a record figure: 32 days without rain, or almost, in France! Consequence: the soils are dry, which is worrying for farmers and nature. But why does a drought happen in the middle of winter? Answers in this show.

A look back at another phenomenon that occurred in France… Not on earth but in the sky: an aurora borealis. The explanations are to be listened to in this program. The children will also make a detour to London in England, where the mayor has just made an important decision for school canteens.

School, bombardment,… the daily life of Ukrainian children in the war

It has been a year since Russia invaded Ukraine. A conflict that lasts and upsets the lives of Ukrainians, including those of children. In this episode, at the microphone of our journalist Marie from franceinfo, students from a school in kyiv tell their daily lives.

How do you motivate yourself to do your homework?

In our “We tell each other everything” section, this week, it is Faustine who takes the floor to talk to us about a crucial subject for many schoolchildren: how to motivate themselves to do their homework? With the help of our psychologist Nadège Larcher, the show gives him advice.

To laugh and share their favorites, “Salut l’info!” give the floor to the children every week. Three children’s jokes are also to be found in this episode, just to have a smile despite the sometimes difficult news.

Brittany, pasta with tuna and Aldebert… We also sit down at the table of the “Club Salut l’info!” with Elise, our young listener of the week.

Good listening !
