The war in Ukraine makes life even more difficult for the poor in Sierra Leone

Rising global fuel and food prices have made life even more difficult for the 10,000 residents of Kroo Bay, one of the largest slums in Freetown, the country’s capital.

Sierra Leoneans in the slums of Freetown, who suffer from recurrent power cuts, water shortages, untreated sewage and insufficient health services, must now fight against hunger. Indeed, the conflict in Ukraine has led to soaring prices of basic necessities.
