“I think it’s messing up the system for nothing”declares this Wednesday the deputy Sylvain Maillard, vice-president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly, about the bill tabled by the deputy Renaissance of Vienne and president of the Law Commission, Sacha Houlié, on the right for foreigners to vote in local elections.

“To be honest with you, it was not necessarily a good surprise”he explains. “He tabled this bill in a personal capacity. We must not have political objects that have not been discussed between us”.

“That does not mean that each of us cannot have a political position”continues the vice-president of the Renaissance group. “But on that, obviously, it makes the system turbulent and it sends an image that is not positive”.

Finally, concerning the postponement of the examination of the bill on immigration by Gérald Darmanin, initially planned for the return to parliament, Sylvain Maillard explains that “it’s on demand” majority deputies “in order to have more time to work on the text upstream”.
