Another alleged story of sexual misconduct is currently rocking Canadian junior hockey. This time, it is aimed in particular at two former players of the Voltigeurs de Drummondville.
The affair was confirmed by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (LHJMQ) in a press release on Tuesday morning.
“Both the League and the Drummondville Voltigeurs have just been made aware of the incident that allegedly occurred in 2016. The QMJHL and its teams will offer their full cooperation to the police investigation and the legal process if they are solicited “, could we read in the press release from the Courteau circuit.
“Our first thoughts are with the alleged victim and we are overly sensitive to his situation,” it added.
The story was first reported by Radio-Canada journalist Martin Leclerc.
“A 15-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by three young men, two of whom were wearing the colors of the local team in major junior hockey, the Drummondville Voltigeurs,” the article reads.
“At the time of the alleged assault, two of the three players were minors. The third, Noah Corson, was an adult. This former Voltigeurs player is the son of ex-Canadian player Shayne Corson.
Corson reportedly waived his preliminary investigation and is expected to appear at the Drummondville courthouse next June.
The 24-year-old hockey player scored four goals and nine assists with the Voltigeurs during the 2016-17 season.
This season, Corson has six goals and nine assists in 20 games with the ECHL Adirondack Thunder.
As for the other two attackers, their identity cannot be disclosed in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
