In its column “1 p.m. in the countryside”, the editorial staff of 13 Heures will talk about hunting, which has become a divisive subject among the French and politicians. And yet France has more than a million hunters.

The boar hunt begins. On a property in the Var, there are about twenty hunters. Four months before the presidential election, the “1 p.m. campaign” went to meet hunters who are priority voters for candidates. Gathered before the start of the hunt, the hunters have the feeling of being unloved. According to polls, only one in five French people are in favor of hunting.

This is a practice also attacked by some politicians. “We were very happy, this year, to call us ‘bloodthirsty barbarians’. Listen, I am a married father. I live my rural life”, testifies one of the hunters interviewed. These are undecided voters who can weigh in the ballot: a million French today hold the hunting license. According to studies, hunters vote clearly on the right, but nothing is fixed or homogeneous.
