The Voice, the super cross-battles: The 10 designated semi-finalists!

This is a unique show in The Voice which aired Saturday, May 7, 2022. For the first time, the production introduced super cross battles, the last stage before the live broadcasts. They are ten to have qualified for the first part, the semi-final. As for the cross-battles, it was the coaches who sent their talents on stage to compete on a song of their choice. And in the end, the public decided which was the winning candidate. Summary !

Charles facing Mary

It was Florent Pagny who opened the ball, he who had the most Talents in his team, namely 7. The coach, sick and appeared with a shaved head, decided to send Charles to start, the one who “has the most business” according to him. The coach challenged his friend Amel Bent, who trusted Mary, his “strongest talent since the beginning of the adventure“. Charles launched himself first on the title creepy by Radiohead. And as usual, he performed flawlessly with his voice, which can hit all the notes. Mary, for her part, gave her all All By Myself by Celine Dion. A song that allowed him to reveal the full extent of the power of his voice. The public voted to keep Mary at 59.1%. She is qualified for the semi-final and Charles is eliminated.

Louise facing Clement

Vianney pitted the hyperactive Louise against a candidate from Marc Lavoine’s team, namely the very stressed Clément, who has autism spectrum disorder. Louise performed a revisited version of take on me of the group A-ha, gently and simply accompanied by a guitar. It is with the same musical instrument that Clément then rushed on stage by taking over the famous tube of Elton John, Rocket Man. Two different performances but each one distinguished themselves. The public voted to keep Louise at 59.9%. She is qualified for the semi-final and Clément is eliminated.

Leeroy against Loris

The next super cross-battle was initiated by Amel Bent. She put her darling Leeroy to the test, the least experienced but the one who certainly has a lot of potential. He faced Loris, from Marc Lavoine’s team. Leeroy sang It is where the happiness by Christophe Mae. Loris, who had been drafted by Nolwenn Leroy in the blind auditions, did not leave his comfort zone while rapping on By love of Diam’s, his favorite register. And he succeeded in putting a lot of emotion into it. The public voted to keep Loris at 81.6%. He qualified for the semi-finals and Leeroy was eliminated.

Gautier against Nour

Vianney recovered the hand and sent Gautier into the arena to compete against the youngest of the adventure Nour (16 years old) from Florent Pagny’s team. Gautier took over the latter’s cult song, Know how to love. The former Kids, Nour, has for her part revisited Live for the best of the Johnny Hallyday monument. The first bet on emotion while his opponent was more intense. The public voted to keep Nour at 72.7%. She is qualified for the semi-final and Gautier is eliminated.

Jade facing Doryan

Florent Pagny then challenged Amel Bent with Jade, undoubtedly the most formidable for the other coaches. Amel Bent therefore put the odds on his side by sending Doryan on stage. Jade took a risk by covering Claude François’ song As per usual, in Italian. What’s more, in a very powerful and rock’n’roll way as she likes. Doryan also delivered an offbeat performance on the title over the rainbow by Julie Garland. He indeed proposed a version “unlikely“. The public voted to keep Doryan at 78.6%. He is qualified for the semi-final and Jade is eliminated.

Lena facing Lou

It is the pretty Léna, from the team of Amel Bent, who was called to continue the evening. She faced Lou, at Florent Pagny. Léna accompanied herself on her piano to push her voice on Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Diana Ross before taking over the stage. A disco atmosphere was invited on the set which totally resembled the candidate. Lou, for her part, went the opposite of what she has done so far, namely singing in French. She chose to perform Kid by Barbara Pravi, thus offering a great moment of emotion. The public voted to keep Lou at 73.0%. She is qualified for the semi-final and Léna is eliminated.

Ofé against Pauline

Marc Lavoine chose Ofé to play a battle against Pauline from the Vianney team. Two candidates who should normally have been eliminated during the cross-battles but their respective choach saved them in extremis. Ofé tried to convince on The Thousand Time Waltz by Jacques Brel. His grain of voice so apart and a little broken once again hit the bull’s eye since Ofé received a standing ovation. Pauline interpreted The black Eagle from Barbara. A classic of French song that she has perfectly mastered. The public voted to keep Pauline at 60.7%. She is qualified for the semi-final and Ofé is eliminated.

Sonia facing Caroline

The young and confident Sonia, from Florent Pagny’s team, was challenged to compete against Caroline Costa, from Marc Lavoine’s team. Despite her young age, Sonia (16) has operated a new tour de force on I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. His talent is undeniable and always amazes the coaches but also the public. Caroline, who is well known thanks to her background in Amazing talent, therefore had a formidable opponent in front of her. But she didn’t disassemble interpreting Listen by Beyoncé, another vocal song. And she caused a sensation on stage just as much, making it almost impossible to make a choice. A real battle of divas! The public voted to keep Caroline at 62.4%. She is qualified for the semi-final and Sonia is eliminated.

Vike against Jean Palau

Vike, at Amel Bent, then rushed onto the stage to oppose Jean Palau, from Florent Pagny’s team. Vike played emotion with The blue words by Christophe on guitar. As for Jean-Palau, who is at this stage of the adventure thanks to Nolwenn Leroy, gave a vocal demonstration on Show must go on of Queen. The public voted to keep Vike at 52.4%. He is qualified for the semi-final and Jean Palau is eliminated.

Mister Mat, Matteo and Kevin

To close these super cross-battles, three candidates competed, since the teams were odd: Mister Mat at Vianney, Matteo at Amel Bent and Kevin at Florent Pagny. Mister Mat was the first to pass. He sang with his raw and scratchy voice that upsets every time on Since you’re leaving by Jean-Jacques Goldman. Matteo, for his part, took over Before you by Calogero and Kevin ended with a revisited version of My heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. The public voted to keep Mister Mat at 51.6%. He qualified for the semi-finals. Matteo and Kevin are eliminated.
