None of the six vice-presidencies, no quaestor position out of the three at stake, not even one secretary out of twelve… Marine Le Pen and her allies have stayed away from the positions in the Assembly bureau.
“It is not normal” that the National Rally does not have a vice-president. Invited on France 2 on Saturday July 20, the newly re-elected president of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, regretted that far-right deputies had remained away from the positions of the bureau of the Assembly, its highest executive body. On the “Journal de 20 heures”, the president of the National Assembly spoke “of a stunning vote.” But “The voice of the National Rally will be heard in the bodies of the National Assembly. I will ensure carefully that every French person who voted during these legislative elections is heard in the Assembly.”she assured.
She also spoke about the next prime minister, as the New Popular Front fails to agree on a name for Matignon. Despite the NFP coming out on top in the legislative elections, “no reason” does not force Emmanuel Macron to propose a name from this coalition for the post, she estimated, because the NFP “is not a majority in the Assembly”.
Despite the defeat of the presidential camp in the last elections, Yaël Braun-Pivet also defended her return to the perch. “I hear some people talking about dirty tricks. In the National Assembly, there is only one rule (…) it is that of suffrage, it is the election”she said, thinking to herself “proud” to have been elected “without any voice from the National Rally”.
