Gare de Lyon (Paris) was the target of a knife attack on Saturday, February 3, in the morning. At least three people were injured, one seriously. A 32-year-old man of Malian nationality armed with a hammer and a knife was arrested.
Investigators from the technical and scientific police are at work in hall 3 of the Gare de Lyon, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. Numerous police officers were dispatched to the scene to secure the area. The shock remains after a knife attack that occurred on the morning of February 3, shortly after 7:30 a.m. “It was panic”, notes a witness. After setting his backpack on fire in an escalator, the attacker attacked three people with a knife and a hammer, before being overpowered by an SNCF security agent.
Psychiatric disorders
The attack was filmed by the station’s surveillance cameras. According to the first elements of the investigation, the attacker is a 32-year-old man of Malian origin. He has a valid Italian residence permit. The trail of an action by a person with psychiatric disorders is favored by investigators. The investigation was handed over to the federal police.
