the villages of Indre participate in the momentum of solidarity with Ukraine

Organize as well as possible the momentum of solidarity and the emotion aroused by the war unleashed in Ukraine by Russia for a week. Such is the role of the president of the rural mayors of Indre. Many municipalities in Berry organize collections : medical equipment, warm clothes, hygiene products… “You have to take a step back. It’s not useful to leave to bring things they don’t really need”underlines Roland Caillaud, guest of France Bleu Berry this Thursday.

In order to be more efficient in the products to bring to Ukraine, the national association of rural mayors made a proposal. “We are thinking about a twinning system between a Ukrainian village and a French village”explains Roland Caillaud, also mayor of Pouligny Saint-Pierre. “When we have an address and we can communicate, we can ask their real needs to get what they need”he justifies.

We cannot remain insensitive to what is happening in Ukraine, among our neighbors, on European soil

Berry farmers have a major role to play

During his official speech on Wednesday, Emmanuel Macron insisted on the need to reindustrialize France and to acquire energy independence in particular. For Roland Caillaud, farmers have their place in this system. “The first mission remains to feed people, but it can play a role in the creation of energy. We have space, the sun, water, biomass and a lot of tools to produce energy”indicates the president of the rural mayors of Indre.

We don’t only have good land to harvest in our region. We could make biogas there, install solar panels, rearm our mills

At last, he calls for a support plan for the agricultural world. “They have been mistreated for years. They are still the ones who will be affected by the problems of increasing raw materials. We do not know if we will have the necessary quantities of gas and fertilizers. We risk having hard to get supplies”, concludes Roland Caillaud. A resilience plan has been confirmed by Emmanuel Macron. Measures should concern farmers.
