Stade Lavallois did not fall into the trap during this 20th day of National. By receiving Bastia-Borgo, a badly ranked, there was perhaps more to lose than to gain because the Corsicans were undefeated in January.
With a typical team lined up by Olivier Frapolli, the Laval team opened the scoring very quickly. A very nice cover of Jimmy Roye 20 meters from the Bastia goals which deceives the former Mayenne goalkeeper, Arnaud Balijon. It is the fastest goal this season for Laval and the second for the captain of the Stadium (Cholet, 5th day). At this point in the game, we say to ourselves that the match can be quickly folded in favor of Tango. But they fail to score the second goal before the break, nor before the hour mark… nor ever. The Laval defense held up against a valiant Corsican team which never gave up, but which showed some limits. Conversely, if Laval did not score this famous second goal, it is partly “because” of Arnaud Balijon, author of three parades in the second period.
In the standings, Stade Lavallois alone takes the lead in the championship, pending the Concarneau match against Villefranche, Monday February 7 (8:45 p.m.). Annecy lost two points by being joined by Boulogne. And Laval now has a six-point lead over 4th, Bourg-en-Bresse.
