Fast food restaurants are becoming more and more popular with the French. Today they take very diverse forms, from hamburgers to nuggets, including kebabs and donuts.
Fast food restaurants are experiencing growing success in France. “I tell myself that I’m not going to overdo it because it’s not good for your health, but we’re going to say that it’s disgustingly good“, smiles a student. Another sees them as “a comfort” after dieting phases. Whether hamburgers, chicken nuggets or kebabs, preparation is always quick.
In three years, the turnover of fast food restaurants has almost doubled. Established for more than 20 years in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), a kebabier says he has never changed his recipe. “We don’t necessarily have the means to go to a restaurant every day. It’s a little more accessible“, confides a student. Alongside traditional sandwiches, donuts are also making a sensational entry into the world of fast food: it sells three times more than two years ago.
