The Var gendarmerie elucidates about fifteen burglaries, including a theft of 120 liters of oil

The gendarmes of the Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer brigade (Var) placed two people in police custody at the start of the week, suspected of being involved in a series of burglaries that occurred between March and May 2022 in the seaside restaurants and hotels.

If cash or smartphones disappeared disappeared from these establishments, the rest of the loot is more surprising: cash registers, foodstuffs and in particular 120 liters of sunflower oil, a product hit by shortages at this time of year and resold at a very high price on parallel markets.

The two people taken into custody, a man and a woman aged 29 and 34, from Marseille, will be tried before the Toulon Criminal Court next May. While awaiting trial, the man returned to his cell in Luynes prison (where he is incarcerated for another case) and the woman was released.
