“The Valley of Bitter Waters”, the new novel by Jean-Paul Malaval

We are immersed in this novel, in two places and two eras: at the heart of the events of Larzac, in the 1970s, and the Tarn, in the 1990s. Two brothers, who had already torn each other during the first affair, go to meet again, twenty years later, but how?

Armand is a late sixty-eight, and Gaspard has never budged from the causses of his ancestors. Armand left to create his own farm, and Gaspard stayed, again and again. If they say they are ready to turn the page, it will ultimately not be. A spark will set fire to the powders: a reservoir of water useful for the exploitation of Armand would, of course, allow to irrigate hundreds of hectares, but would destroy the ecosystem of Tescalet.
