“The Valenciennes did not have time to doubt enough”

Stéphane Moulin, coach of the SM Caen
: “I think it was a good game. Afterwards, unfortunately, we weren’t able to hold on to this score from one to zero for long enough. But I saw a lot of progress in the way we functioned compared to our last game in outside (in Laval).

We had the opportunities. We couldn’t grasp them. We missed accuracy in the last gestures. On the other hand, we had opportunities. Even in the first half, there are situations that should have turned into chances that we played badly. But in any case, we gave ourselves the possibility of winning it. We did not succeed. But tonight I told the boys that I was satisfied with the work done this week. We are in line with the Rodez match (2-0) against an opponent who has a lot of quality and who is not easy to take home. We weren’t far. We did not succeed but that does not prevent the merit of the players on the match they made (…) We should have returned with this score at half-time. It’s easier to manage then and counter. It is true that I consider that they did not have enough time to doubt.
