“It’s a step up in the arsenal to convince the last millions of French people to be vaccinated”, reacted Friday, December 17 on franceinfo Philippe Besset, president of the Federation of Pharmaceutical Unions of France (FSPF), the main union of dispensing pharmacies, after the new restrictions announced by Jean Castex following a council of health defense.

The Prime Minister notably indicated that the vaccination pass would replace the health pass. A bill will be presented to Parliament in early January. “There were millions of tests that were performed by people who were not yet vaccinated to have social activities “, recalls Philippe Besset. The FSPF “will support this measure to encourage” the French to be vaccinated, because “that’s how we’re going to get by”. He recalls that “The force of conviction on vaccination has been progressive. It is a real success in France. We are one of the most vaccinated countries in the world”.

Philippe Besset sees this government measure as “a call to responsibility” before the holidays, who “addresses the civic spirit rather than the constraint”. We avoided “containment measures, curfew measures, prevention measures”, and this is due “to the fact that we have a high vaccination rate. Otherwise, we would have to have other measures than that”, considers the president of the FSPF. He therefore calls to hear “this civic spirit” and to respect “the barrier measures, the fact of being few in number together”.

Jean Castex also announced that the booster dose can be given four months after the second injection, instead of five months. “There, we are a little deep. Between the tests and the vaccines, really, we reach the ceiling of the possibilities”, alert Philippe Besset. “The Prime Minister even asked us to vaccinate on Sunday. Some of us do it, but the teams are tired and not everyone can manage to open a seventh day, since a day of rest is still necessary. . ”

The call to the army evoked by Jean Castex to help with vaccination “is the only possibility to improve the cadence”, considers the pharmacist. “If there are backups to do these vaccinations, they are welcome.”
