Millions of people are vaccinated in France, but as winter approaches, cases of Covid-19 are on the rise. What are the limits of vaccination? Response elements.

Vaccination on a global scale for months and nearly 50 million French people protected by double vaccination: the vaccination figures in France are good. However, cases of Covid-19 have been enumerated en masse in recent days, which raises fears of a 5th wave. The arrival of the variant weakens the effects of the vaccine on the body, which leaves an opening to potential contamination. The Pfizer vaccine also loses its long-term effectiveness, going from 88% to 47%, six months after its injection.

Receiving the vaccine protects against severe forms of the coronavirus, but does not prevent the virus from being transmitted to other individuals, vaccinated or not. In some institutions for the elderly, several individuals had tested positive despite the application of the vaccine, which aims to reduce the viral load of the virus. The vaccine, however, protects against the most serious forms of Covid-19. In hospitals, the majority of patients are not vaccinated and the rare vaccinated patients are immunocompromised people.
