The island of Menorca, in the Balearic Islands (Spain), is attracting more and more French people. It is one of the last preserved paradises of the Mediterranean.

Turquoise water and wild beaches overlooked by small white houses. Menorca, less known than its neighbors Ibiza and Majorca, in the Balearic Islands (Spain), offers postcard landscapes. But to access the riches of the island, you need a little courage. The most beautiful sites are only accessible on foot. Tourists must take a 500-year-old trail, which crisscrosses the entire wild and unspoiled coastline.

“It’s not mass tourism”

From his first visit to Menorca fifteen years ago, Cédric Balauze fell in love with the island. “In 2012, there were only 4,000 French people who came. Last year, there were more than 100,000”says the French guide. “It’s not so much mass tourism. Even in July and August, there are always corners to be quiet”, he continues. Recognized as a biosphere reserve by Unesco, this island is one of the last preserved paradises in the Mediterranean.
