The wife of a professor at the University of the Littoral in Dunkirk (North), stabbed on Monday September 18 at their home, confessed to her murder in police custody. It was she who first alerted the police about a burglary.

She first mentioned a burglary that went wrong. The companion of Patrice Charlemagne, 51, university professor in Dunkirk (North) confessed to having killed him on the night of Sunday September 17 to Monday September 18. The victim was found at the couple’s home, with at least three stab wounds. His wife called the police around 4 a.m., explaining that burglars had gotten inside and that she had taken refuge at her neighbor’s house with her 20-month-old baby.

A psychological help unit set up

The police noted signs of a break-in and found a knife, a flashlight and a laptop. But certain elements cause confusion: the cut on the young woman’s hand and certain inconsistencies in her story. Placed in police custody on Tuesday September 19, she confessed to the murder a few hours later. At the University of the Littoral, professors and students are stunned. A psychological support unit has been set up. The alleged author, who also taught communications at university, was very involved: a municipal councilor in Dunkirk (North), she wrote children’s books. His police custody was extended on the morning of Thursday September 21. The Dunkirk prosecutor should provide more information in the coming hours.
