This summer, 40,000 teenagers took part in universal national service. Organized by the Ministry of Education, it could eventually be generalized.

In the Val de Marne, the France Télévisions teams went to meet around forty young people. Aged 15 to 17, they experience universal national service. This is a great first for these volunteers. The SNU succeeded the military service, with therefore this major difference: the absence of compulsory character. At 6:50 a.m., it’s the alarm clock for the teenagers. They then only have 10 minutes to prepare. Then comes the raising of the flag and the singing of the national anthem: the Marseillaise.

40,000 young participants

The SNU, organized by the Ministry of National Education, is attracting more and more people. They are 40,000 to participate this year, against 15,000 young people last year. The goal? Give them direction by cultivating team spirit. To do this, teenagers must, among other things, try their hand at treasure hunts in the forest.
