“We face a threat of a significant Iranian attack against Israel,” warned Joe Biden, President of the United States. Tehran has indeed promised to avenge its Revolutionary Guards killed during a strike attributed to the Hebrew state on an Iranian consulate in Syria.
The alert came from the Pentagon, the headquarters of the American army. Intelligence services are convinced that Iran is preparing to carry out a direct attack against Israel, and the White House has not hesitated to raise this risk publicly. “We face a threat of a significant Iranian attack on Israel”, warned Joe Biden, President of the United States. By revealing the possibility of an attack, the American president hopes to dissuade the Iranians from taking action.
US troops in region on alert
Tehran has promised to avenge the death of several of its Revolutionary Guards, killed in a strike attributed to Israel on the consulate of the Islamic Republic in Damascus (Syria), on April 1, 2024. This operation has revived the risk of a direct confrontation between the two countries. Washington has placed its troops in the region on alert. Faced with this risk of conflagration, France and the United States recommend that their nationals avoid traveling in the coming days to Israel, Iran, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.
