If the United States does not intervene militarily in Haiti to eliminate the mafia gangs that swarm there and restore what amounts to a rule of law, Haitians in distress will continue to flow in large numbers to their borders. Ultimately, it will cost Uncle Sam more to manage this influx than to dispatch his Marines.
President Joe Biden would have the support of the Haitian people and would do useful work if he did so. He would not get into a quagmire like the one in Afghanistan.
If nothing is done, Haitians will sink deeper into poverty and sink into despair.
