It is a message of temperance to Israel. “Far too many Palestinians have been killed” since the start of the Israeli response to the Hamas attack on October 7, declared American Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday November 10. “Much more must be done to protect civilians and ensure they receive humanitarian assistance”he underlined, on the sidelines of a visit to India.
The head of American diplomacy welcomed Israel’s decision to accept “breaks” humanitarians in its offensive in the north of the Gaza Strip. “I think progress has been made”did he declare. “But I was also very clear that there was still much to be done in terms of protecting civilians and delivering humanitarian aid.”, he repeated. He specified that the United States was working on “concrete plans to do this”.
Antony Blinken also reaffirmed that the United States ultimately supported the two-state solution, Israeli and Palestinian, the only way to achieve a “lasting and just peace”. The Secretary of State ends a tour of the Middle East and Asia on Friday which notably saw him visit Israel on November 3 and the occupied West Bank on Sunday.
