The United Kingdom will pay foreign influencers to dissuade would-be illegal immigrants. THE Times reveals that Albanian TikTokers, in particular, have been identified to spread the good word of the British government.

With more than 100,000 subscribers on TikTok, the rapper of Albanian origin Omg Dioh was selected by the Home office (the Ministry of the Interior). For a maximum of 6,000 euros, he will be responsible for broadcasting the following message on his networks: “don’t come to the UK illegally“.

He was chosen because his community is mainly made up of young men. Profiles that are mainly found in the makeshift boats that cross the Channel. For Albania, a blogger, a writer and actors were also identified. A process soon extended to Egypt, Vietnam, Iraq and India.

An operation worth more than 600,000 euros

An approach immediately mocked by Matilda Thorpe, an actress known here for numerous television roles. She published this video on his social networks, widely shared on X. “Hello, I’m a British celebrity, she says. The government pays me… Sorry, asks me to tell you, on the other side of the Channel, not to come in your little boats. It’s really bad here. Nobody has money, there isn’t enough food, we can’t pay for heating. In fact, I’d rather come to where you are, if that’s possible.”

By all means, the British government wants to prevent illegal immigration and show that it is not neglecting any possibility. In total, the foreign influencer operation will cost him more than 600,000 euros.

Some of the influencers identified by the government indicated in the British press that they would not respond favorably to this proposal if they were to be contacted, like Fabio Daja (more than 100,000 subscribers on TikTok) in the media inews .
