After ten days of festivities, crackling flashes, gala dresses and trendy parties, the 75th Cannes Film Festival closed on Saturday May 28, 2022. The palme d’or for this anniversary edition was awarded to Unfiltered (Triangle of Sadness, in its original version), feature film by 48-year-old Swedish director Ruben Östlund. As for the prize for male interpretation, it ended up in the hands of Song Kang Ho (already headlining Parasite, palme d’or 2019). A reward granted for his role in Les Bonnes Étoiles (Broker), the last feature film by Kore-Eda Hirokazu.
Before the winners are awarded in the Palais des Festivals, the big names of the Seventh Art walked the red carpet on the Croisette one last time and posed in front of the photographers. Come to give the prize for female interpretation, Guillaume Canet climbed the steps alone, in a very chic black suit. But the actor exchanged a few words with an old acquaintance since it was very close to his ex-wife Diane Kruger that the actor went to the closing ceremony.
In the early 2000s, Guillaume Canet and Diane Kruger indeed formed one of the most glamorous and famous couples in cinema. Before getting closer to Marion Cotillard, the director of Little Handkerchiefs has indeed succumbed to the magnetic charm of the blue eyes of the German. After love at first sight in 2001, the couple got married in an intimate ceremony. Guillaume Canet will even offer a role to his wife in his film My idol (2002). Despite five years of relationship, the two actors separated by mutual agreement in January 2006.
If Leonardo DiCaprio’s great friend went alone to the Palais des Festivals, Diane Kruger was accompanied by her new husband. The actress now shares the life of Norman Reedus, star actor of the series The Walking Dead and met on the set of the film Sky in 2015.
