The big guns of the Laval Rocket were again silent against the Bridgeport Islanders, the Montreal Canadiens academy can only watch the opponent get away with a 5-2 victory Saturday night at Total Mortgage arena.

Kevin Poulin did not have his best start in front of the visitors’ cage. The Quebec veteran gave up four times on 28 shots. The goal that hurt the most was Ruslan Iskhakov’s, five minutes after the gap was reduced by Rafaël Harvey-Pinard.
The Russian then made it 4-2 for the local favorites and ended any hope of a comeback for the Rocket. Simon Holmström increased the mark in an empty net, he who had also been the first scorer of the meeting, in the first period.
The Rocket’s 2017-18 scoring champion, Chris Terry, has hurt his former club. The 33-year-old left winger shook the ropes in the second engagement and he was complicit in two other successes for his team.
Anthony Richard opened his scoring for Laval by beating Jakub Skarek in the first period. Mitchell Stephens did the same by assisting in both of the Rocket’s nets.
Jean-François Houle’s men will return to Place Bell for a six-game home streak. The Belleville Senators will be their next opponents on Wednesday.
