The United Nations will set up a “air lift” between Haiti and the neighboring Dominican Republic to allow “the fluidity of humanitarian aid” towards the country in crisis, announced the UN mission in Haiti on X, Wednesday March 13.

The UN mission also specified that part of the staff would be temporarily resettled “outside” of the country and the arrival of other personnel “crisis” was expected. She is not the only one to have made this decision: theEuropean Union announced Monday that it had evacuated all of its staff from Haiti. “Non-essential personnel” of France were also evacuated from the capital Port-au-Prince on Tuesday morning, announced the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné.

Furthermore, the head of American diplomacy, Antony Blinken, expressed hope on Wednesday that the new Haitian transition council could be formed “in the coming days”, which will allow the sending of a security force to the country ravaged by gangs.
